LTI - London Taxis International
The current model of the classic London taxi from LTI. Successor to the FX4 below, the TX1 claims to be the last word in driver comfort - never a key feature of the earlier models. Always room for improvement though, bit a bit more like a car than before...

Just for those who had forgotten what the archetypal London cab looks like. Still many thousands in service on the streets of course, and likely to remain so for a few years to come.

The Metrocab
Around for over a decade, this is still in the minority compared to the LTI models. A troubled company history appears to have settled as the manufacturers were taken over earlier this year. Time will tell.

The euro7taxi from Cab Direct, with capacity of up to 7 pasengers, full wheelchair access and much more.

Eurocab: specialist Mercedes and Fiat hackney and private hire conversions from Jubilee Automotive Group, West Midlands.

Voyager Multi Purpose Vehicles: 20 year-old family run business in Crewe, Cheshire. Specialises in producing wheelchair accessible taxis, minibuses and vehicles for private use.

Based on a van chassis, the Asquith body offers a sense of a previous age, but with modern mechanicals. Not many of these compared to the 'normal' cabs above of course, but ideal for larger groups.

Side Strider Inc
Motorcycle Sidecars

Described as a practical leisure vehicle, although I can't see this getting past the London taxi approval process!  Many other interesting sidecars featured on this site.

Not all taxis are for work! These great pedal cars are replicas of 1950s toys, and can cost from $200-400. You can often find them on the eBay auction site for less. The site below is a manufacturer which sells them for $189 (don't forget to allow for cost of shipping to UK).
